Geoffrey, eTrike, UK
I was so pleased to receive my new Mountain Trike just a few days before Christmas. Almost every time I go out on it, it receives appreciative comments like, “Those are snazzy wheels, and a nice colour too”, “That’s a serious bit of kit”, and so on.
The home we found for the Trike was a Keter Store-It Out-Pro outdoor garden furniture Storage Shed.
It took us a few weeks more to be able to transport the trike. We knew it wouldn’t really fit inside our small car. After more internet searching we came up with the Cruz Tailo, and found a UK supplier at The Roof-Box Company. I decided to attach a GRP platform on top on which the Trike would rest.
Until we got this built up I had to confine myself to routes starting at the back gate, but that was useful for getting the feel of the trike. That meant along the canal towpath, and round a minor road behind the house past the shore. One day we went out for lunch, at a pub four miles along the canal.
And so yesterday, Tuesday, we had the first real outing, off tarmac and away from level surfaces. We went to Arnside Knott, a 150m hill just a few miles north from here. We parked, as seen in the photo above. Then up the hill we went. It was a tarmac road to begin with, which gradually got worse and worse until all the tarmac had gone leaving rubble and bare rock. We got to the walkers’ car park. (I didn’t want to drive there on the rough road with the Tailo on the back). Then even more fun began as we followed gravel paths on the Knott. In a couple of places the path became rather too steep, but there were plenty of people around, always very happy to help. So with the aid of motor, levers and extra pushing, I made it to the top.
Today I’m exhausted, but very happy. Thank you for such a wonderful machine.
